From The Horse's Mouth

Here it is, straight from the horse’s mouth.

Please read what these professionals and students have to say about Emily.

“Over the last six years, I’ve watched Emily turn Beaufort from an unruly fox hunter fresh out of the hunt field into an upper-level event horse through her ceaseless devotion and constant hard work. Emily is goal-oriented and driven. She has always impressed me with her interest in learning about and practicing good horsemanship. Emily has repeatedly demonstrated a clear commitment to her riding, and she brings a great sense of integrity to the sport.”

-Dorothy Trapp Crowell, Silver Medalist 1994 World Championships

“Emily really is a wonderful student and a great person. She’s very bright, very dedicated, and really driven. I admire her stamina for the many things she’s involved in. She excels at everything and I find her to be quite an inspiration.”

-Ute Schumacher, Professor of Economics and Emily’s Senior honors thesis advisor– Lafayette College

“…What I admire the most about Emily is absolute devotion to the horse. It's not about ego when Emily competes, it is about testing her partnership with her horse. Emily is a truly passionate horsewoman in a horse world where the bottom line or the number of ribbons can sometimes crowd out the true nature of the sport. She has proven herself at the Advanced level of eventing, as well as at the two-star level. While her list of accomplishments is long, Emily's undying dedication to the horse will always be what distinguishes her.”

-Ayla Turnquist, pre-vet student, long-time friend, and groom for Emily and Beaufort at three-day events including Morven Park CCI* and Radnor CCI**

“I rode with Emily last summer. I really needed someone to challenge me & push me my furthest to prepare me for the fall show season. Emily seemed to be able to read both me & my horse well & be able to help me work on things I needed to improve. She set up some challenging exercises that really made me think about where my horse’s feet were, something I wasn't so conscious of at the lower levels. Emily was able to explain what needed to change in order to get through the exercise correctly. I finished on a great ride & had learned a lot & am hoping she will be back sometime this summer to ride with again!”

-Liz Lund, Pony Clubber and Young Rider - Hamel, MN
